Valentine's Day Heart Rice Krispies Treats

I LOVE (no pun intended) making treats for my family.  Every year for Valentine's Day I make a special treat for my husand, last year I made these Fudgy Caramel Brownies.  


This year I'm making these sweet little heart shaped Rice Krispie treats, with white chocolate and Valentine themed sprinkles.



The perfect treat to give to family, friends, teachers, really anyone.  But what I really love about these heart Krispie treats is making them with my kids.  My son is all about the cooking process and my daughter is an avid taste tester.  


With her you really have to watch out because before you know it she will eat all your ingredients in the blink of an eye, such a silly goose.  Who's the taste tester in your family?



I used to make these with my mom and it was hard to stop at just one.  Two is definitely the serving size at my house (if your name is Mike or Tara, sorry kids).  



They are so EASY to make.  It's the standard way you make Rice Krispie treats, where you put everything in a large pan to firm up BUT I have a super secret special way of making them and they are 10,000 times yummier than any Rice Krispie treat you've ever had.



Mini marshmallows.  Secrets out!  Yes, mini marshmallows are my secret.  After you've combined everything and toss in your cereal you add an extra scoop of mini marshmallows.  


In turn you're left with bites here and there of gooey chunks of marshmallow.  MMMmmm!!!



For the heart shape its simple, a heart shaped cookie cutter does the trick and right now you can get those at most stores. 


My set is from Target from a million years ago, but they actually have them right now in the holiday section. 



For the white chocolate drizzle you can use a white wafer chocolate or white chocolate chips.  


I like ghiradelli white chocolate chips because I think they taste the best.  Sometimes candy melts can be fickle so I like the white chocolate chips I usually have better luck.  




To heat up the chocolate I put them in a squeeze bottle and then put the bottle in a mini crockpot, the warm water heats the chocolate up to the perfect temperature.  


If you notice the bottle wobbling all over the place you can wedge something else in there like a glass filled with water.



Drizzle the chocolate and then get CRAZY with the sprinkles!  Do your kids get sprinkles everywhere?  I think I am still finding some from Christmas, hahaha.  They loved putting the sprinkles on these.



When they are all done you can wrap them in some wax paper and tie it with ribbon, string or I used some leftover pink yarn from a project.

Happy Valentine's Day!




6 c Rice Krispies cereal

10 oz marshmallows

3 tbsp butter

1 c mini marshmallows

1/2 c white chocolate chips

nonpareils sprinkles

heart shaped sprinkles


  1. Melt the butter in a pot over low heat

  2. Add the 10 oz of marshmallows and cook until melted

  3. Add the Rice Krispie cereal, stirring until combined

  4. Add in the additional mini marshmallows, stir them in but not so they are completely melted

  5. Transfer to a greased 9x13 inch pan and press it down to spread to each corner

  6. Melt the white chocolate

  7. Use heart shaped cookie cutters to cut out the Rice Krispie treats and place them on a wire cooling rack

  8. Use a spoon or squeeze bottle to drizzle the white chocolate over half the Rice Krispie treat

  9. Decorate with sprinkles
