I know in past recipes this fall I talk a lot about easy family dinners in the cooler months. Our tree is up, the cookies are flowing and the Christmas movies are in full swing.
I make this beefy taco pasta when I'm in the mood for pasta but not necessarily a red sauce Italian type of pasta.
It sort of reminds me of the commercials of hamburger helper HAHA, but way classier.
When I was younger I had all these notions about hamburger helper, I thought it must be amazing! We never had that growing up. So when I went to college I bought a box of it and I could see I hadn't been missing out.
So this beefy taco pasta is everything I had hoped that box would have tasted like! Beefy, cheese, taco-y.
If i add "y" on the end of everything it works.
It takes less than 30 minutes to throw together! The ingredient list is short and sweet and to the point. If you're ever in the need for something quick and delicious this is a must have recipe.
If you want to get extra fancy you can throw your favorite taco ingredients on top. Like sour cream and cilantro.
1/2 yellow onion, chopped
1 lb ground beef
8 oz dry pasta
1 tbsp flour
2 tbsp taco seasoning
1 1/2 c water
1 tsp beef bouillon
1 1/2 c extra sharp cheddar
1/2 c jack cheese
salt to taste
Cook the pasta per package instruction. Drain and set aside. Brown the ground beef in a small pot. Drain off the excess grease. Add the onion, taco seasoning and flour. Cook for 3 minutes. Add the water mixed with the beef bouillon. Bring this to a boil and then turn heat down to low. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Add in the pasta, extra sharp cheddar, jack cheese, pepper and a pinch or two of salt if it needs it. Stir around until the cheese has melted. Serve it up!
