My mornings are somewhat of a whirlwind. Between breakfast, getting a load of laundry in and playing referee between my two kids the morning can pass me by in a blink of an eye. Whether it's kids, a job, or traveling, sometimes we just don't have as much time as we would like to get ready in the morning. When you're crunched for time you want your beauty products to be effortless and effective. I feel like I have mastered the "5 minute makeup". With the right products it can be a snap to get ready in the morning, especially when what you are using is working for you instead of against you. First things first, ditch that heavy pore clogging foundation and swap it out with a beautiful bronzer, it will give your skin a sun kissed glow and no one will even notice that tiny blemish, they will be too blinded by how beautiful you are.
I’ve always been really interested in makeup. It all started with an electric blue eye shadow I got when I was 12, it was my first piece of makeup, and I was only allowed to wear it around the house. I picked it out and somehow convinced my Mom it was a good investment.
I went through the typical stages as I got older; just a little makeup, too much makeup (you know, that thick black eyeliner you could never get thick enough), and finally just the right amount.
I worked in cosmetics for some odd years and as a makeup artist. I picked up some tricks along the way, like...
TIP: After using an eyelash curler, dab some of your powder foundation on to your lashes with your finger tip, when you go to apply your mascara you’ll get a nice thick lash.
Here is my GOLD LIST, 7 of my favorite products for a quick 5 minute morning makeup!
1. Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder
This is my all time favorite bronzer. It has really nice even coverage and the color is perfect, it's not too orange and it has no shimmer. Let me tell you, this stuff lasts forever, okay not forever, but a really long time. It has a little mirror on the flap of the box so you can take it on the go with you.
2. Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow
Last year I was randomly watching QVC or maybe HSN, which I have never watched before in my life but I saw "Too Faced Holiday Specials" on my guide and was intrigued. I ordered a package of Too Faced products and this 3-color blush was part of it, I wasn't expecting to like it but it's my favorite now. It has the perfect combo of colors and is very flattering on different skin tones. They make a couple different colors if this particular shade isn't your jam.
3. Japonesque Go Curl Pocket Lash Curler
I used to have a love hate relationship with eyelash curlers, until I got this one. It's plastic, lightweight and doesn't have me screaming in agony (that shouldn't happen, am I the only one?). In high school I had a plastic eyelash curler and loved that thing, it randomly went missing and took me years to find another one that met up to its high standards. This doesn't pinch, and it gives nice curl to your lashes.
4. Eyeko Skinny Liquid Black Eyeliner
This Eyeko skinny liner is liquid....liquid GOLD. It comes in skinny and also fat. I have both. Trust me, you don't want to see my endless stash of makeup, it's embarrassing really. For a long time I stopped wearing eyeliner but then I tried this out and I am addicted. It goes on really smooth and just doesn't look and feel like typical liquid liners I've used (and hated) in the past. It pairs nicely with the mascara below.
5. Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara
I have tried every brand of mascara known to man kind. I'm not exaggerating either and I contemplated listing them but think of one you are wondering and yes I have tried it. And honestly its a toss up between this and Dior. I like this one because a little goes a long way, you don't have to play the 3 application game, you know, apply and wait a minute, apply some more, wait and then again. One application and perfection every time. Lengthens and thickens. You're welcome!
6. Benefit Gimme Brow Fiber Gel
These next two go hand in hand. For every day I use just this Benefit fiber brow gel. It's my all time favorite brow product. I really don't like the way the powder ones look, and it looks just that "powdery" and cakey and unnatural, and you can easily apply too much and have BERT EYEBROWS. There are a couple different shades and it goes on your brows with a mascara consistency. It's super flattering and natural looking.
7. Chella Eyebrow Pencil
Chella makes a really nice eyebrow pencil. It's super thin and the color for a brunette is beautiful (not a lot of red tones, more on the ashy side), they have it in a few colors. I got this one from Birchbox and i think amazon may sell it. It's a little spendy for a tiny stick but I only use it when I am going out in the evening to give my brows more definition. I use this first and follow up with the gimme brow. Perfect brows!
I love these products, they give you a soft classic look. What are your favorite tried and true makeup products? Do you wear the same day/night look or do you kick it up a notch for more of an edgier look for a night out?
